LINDERS ABC-ABRASIVE BELT COPER

The Linders Abrasive Belt Coper, sometimes called a pipe notcher or tube notcher, uses an abrasive belt driven by a powerful five horsepower electric motor to notch round, square or rectangular tubing, pipe and solid bar stock to fit a pipe or round tube.

An insulated foot switch activates the motor while the work piece is held in the fully adjustable vise and is fed by pulling on a lever. By using interchangeable rollers, or spindles, diameters from ¾ inches to eight inches may be coped on the end of a part. The angle of the cope is easily adjustable with a clamping knob.

By using the most powerful motor available on an abrasive coping machine, and running it only while a cope is being made, low noise exposure levels and long life are assured. Available in 220 volt, single phase and 230/460 volt, three phase, the coper is ready for any shop.

The multi-adjustable vise is the heart of the machine. The horizontally adjustable jaws can be set  to maximize belt life and notch pipe at the narrowest of angles along the abrasive surface. The right side jaws have a built-in  vertical adjustment for offset centerline tube connections, or adjust for an asymmetrical work piece, such as an angle.

A replaceable aluminum jaw pad on the left jaw provides high grip at low clamping pressures, and reduces marring of polished surfaces. The basic rectangular shape allows easy attachment of jigs or fixtures for those really tough parts. By removing the two screws holding the jaw pad, a 4 ½ inch OD piece may be held. By design, the jaws will hold square tubing, both horizontally and diagonally, and round tubing at the same centerline without shims or adjustments. This allows quick changeover from shape to shape without resetting the machine. A simple pull on the hand lever feeds the material into the belt to make the cope in seconds while the depth stop can be set for repeatable precision.

Built to fit on a bench top, the pipe and tube coper takes up little shop space. And because the work is performed directly from the front end, or to the right, it can be positioned along a wall.
