The Arc-Snug Angular Notching Assemblies are installed into an Arc-Snug Housing and are designed to notch a tube end to fit another tube end at an angle.

The tool will produce a notch at one specific angle, from 25° to 90°.

The Arc-Snug ‘carves through’ the side walls of the tube, leaving a tight gap-free fit suitable for brazing or robotic welding.

  • No time-consuming fixturing and set-up
  • No chip removal requiring secondary handling
  • Exact angle every time
  • Long-lasting, sharpenable tooling

The first station notch is the deepest cut. The tube is inserted horizontally into the tool, and the punch travels through the bottom wall. The tube is then rotated 180°, and inserted into the second station and raised from horizontal to the finished angle. The first station notch is now on the top of the tube, and centers itself around the second station punch. Notch orientation is guaranteed. Once the second station notch is made, the tube end is complete. Both stations may be kept loaded with tubes, to in effect, complete one part with each press stroke. There is typically about 1/4″ scrap loss per end trim.  Vogel’s Arc-Snug is the quick and easy way to dependably notch a tube to fit another at an angle.

When doing extremely steep angles (generally 30° and below), two press strokes may be required in the first station to create the required depth, while insuring proper punch strength.

Arc-Snug tools are spring loaded for easy set up in most punch presses, ironworkers or press brakes. The #400 Housing & Assemblies can also be powered by our CSP-25-SA Bench-Top Hydraulic Press.

When adding an assembly to your cart, you will be asked to specify:

  • Tube Size & Gauge
  • Mating Tube OD
  • Angle of Intersection between centerlines of notched and mating tubes
  • If you wish to upgrade to a Titanium Nitrite Coating

Because the Arc-Snug is always made to order, if you need replacement parts for your existing Arc-Snug tooling, please contact us to place your order.  Please have the four digit number stamped into your existing tooling available to ensure accuracy when ordering parts.

1 review for Arc-Snug Angular Notching Assemblies

  1. Christian Claiborne

Seegars Fence has been using the Arc-snug Assembly for over 10 years and built thousands of gates with this tool. In the ten years we have had it, the tooling has required almost no maintenance, and has never even been sharpened. This tool can make a new guy into a productive guy in minutes. We are looking forward to the arrival of our new Arc-snug assembly as we are expanding our production lines. Vogel is top notch and Larry is always incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Great Company great tools!
